When Worship Feels Hard, That’s When It Matters Most

Tomorrow maybe raw...

This has been a heavy week — for our country, for us as Christians, and honestly, just as humans. You might feel raw, angry, or overwhelmed with emotion.

And yet, if you're scheduled to lead worship tomorrow, you’re expected to be “on” — smiling, confident, full of faith. But inside? It might be a different story.

As worship singers, we often believe we have to lead from the mountaintop. But the truth is, some of the most powerful worship comes from the valley. God isn’t asking you to bring strength you don’t have. He’s simply saying, “Come.”

Psalm 13 is basically David’s version of, “God, where are You?” — yet it ends with this line: “But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation” (Psalm 13:5). He doesn’t pretend. He chooses to trust while still feeling the tension. That’s a picture of real worship — honest, gritty, and grounded in truth.

👉 Here’s what I want you to hear: If you’re walking into Sunday with a heavy heart, don’t fake it. Lead from the ache. Let your team see it. Let the congregation feel it. And let God move through it.

Authenticity in worship doesn’t break the moment — it invites God into it.

Peace in Him,
Christine
