Unlock a Better Pre-Service Routine

Hey Friends!

Most worship leaders don’t need a longer rehearsal. They need a better reset.

If you’ve ever stood in the green room thinking, “I know the songs, but I still don’t feel ready,” you are not alone. That moment of pressure is real.

Your body is tight. Your mind is busy. Your voice needs to wake up. And your spirit needs to settle.

That’s why I love a simple 15-minute pre-service prayer and vocal warm-up.

Not because it is fancy - but because it is faithful.

Here’s what that time can look like:

5-Minutes of Prayer and Surrender

Before you sing anything, pause and acknowledge God’s presence. Pray simply:

“Lord, thank You for the privilege of serving. Help me lead with humility, freedom, and clarity. Let my voice carry Your message, not my performance.”

This is where tension starts to loosen and your mind and body start to focus.

5-Minutes of Gentle Vocal Activation

Start easy. Hum. Lip trills. Sirens. Light articulation. You are not trying to do vocal aerobics, you are reminding your voice and body to move with ease. Wake up your body - it's early in the morning.

Confidence grows through competence, and competence starts with consistency.

5-Minutes of Connection and Readiness

Read through the lyrics of your songs and find the scriptural references! God's Word speaks better than anything you could even think to say. Ask the Holy Spirit: What is the message of these songs today?

Sing through the sections that matter most. Check breath. Check range. Check transitions. Ask yourself: Where do I need more support? Where do I need less effort? Where can I lead with more freedom?

When you prepare spiritually and vocally, you are not just getting ready to sing. You are getting ready to serve with purpose.

And that changes how you lead.

Remember, you don’t have to arrive perfect, but it's so much better when you arrive prepared!

Praying you lead with confidence this week!

Peace,
Christine
